When trying to Consume a consumable asset, I can only assign the consume action to either an asset or a user. I would like a Location to be added to the Consume action form, so that I can track the expenses by locations. Has anyone done this before? If so, what would be the best approach? I am attaching a image of the form that pops up when you click on the Consume button.

Hi @mnaranjor
to answer your question: "No" it is not possible as the industry standard says a consumable is assigned to a user or an asset.
But to be honest, you ask the wrong question. Your requirement is "track the expenses by locations". As users should be assigned to locations, you can generate any kind of reporting with considering the user level between a consumable and a location.

Hi Maik,
Thanks for the fast response. What you mentioned makes perfect sense for most environments. However, our environment is very fluid and dynamic in such a way we cannot always assign consumables to specific users or specific assets. I work in the airline industry, so some of our consumables are sent out one of our stations in an airport where many of the staff do not work for us. We are not sure what hardware assets will be using these consumables. I could assign all these consumables to the station manager, but they have different locations assigned to them, and sometimes they move to another region after being in one place for only 6 months.
So, I saw that one of the features that SN offers is the Facility model, but I don't know what can of assets you assign to those. On another hand I though that a Facility model would represent something like a building, but apparently this is not the case based on the form fields. Any ideas will be welcome.

With many companies having open benching with unassigned seating, I think this requirement would help many companies. We currently have 35 locations where this is the case and need to be able to assign mouse, monitor, keyboard, etc.... to locations and not users.
Would you know if this is something SN is looking into?
Thanks

Hello
I also have this same requirement. We have open benching that is equipped with monitor, keyboard, and mouse. These consumables are not tied to a user but to a specific location. I know that I can set an entire quantity of consumables to specific location, that works...but when I need to assign only xx amount of the total to a location, it doesn't work.
Any help would be appreciated and all ideas are welcome
