I am the assigned Hardware Asset Manager and we just recently implemented ServiceNow. I learned how to complete an audit of a stockroom but what is the most efficient method of auditing assets that are issued to employees throughout the organization? SO far, I've only found that they must be scanned using the mobile app. But we have employees scattered across multiple locations and many are remote.

Asset Audits are performed via Stockrooms or Locations. To your point that can be difficult if you have many locations and remote employees. Without being able to do a physical audit your only other methods are to use something like ServiceNow discovery or Service Graph Connectors such as Intune, SCCM, JAMF, etc. These will locate your assets and populate them into your asset and cmdb tables. They will show you was the last logged in user (or primary user) is and then the location will be set based off of that selection. While this is not a 'true' audit it is the best that can be done without doing physical audits based off of stockroom or locations.
