JAMF Integration VS Import Set

Hi All,

I'm currently looking at the process for importing our Macs into the system as we house them externally with JAMF

We dont have a huge collection of macs as not internally supported but we still need to track them.

So I'm looking into whether it is more prudent to Add via import set or to try setup a SG connecter.

Would anyone know how much work is required to implement this?

Would anyone have any recommendation on what approach to take? IE Import Set vs SG for discovery

Thanks

Hi @GChat

I recently implemented the Jamf integration via Service Graph Connector. After installation, it provides a guided setup with complete documentation on ServiceNow Docs.

Configuration steps: establish connectivity, adjust required properties, and activate the scheduled job (which also removes software records when apps are uninstalled).

Review the documentation to confirm the Jamf version and the CI classes you need to discover. The connector can ingest large data sets, so if you require only a limited set of classes, consider alternatives such as REST API or Import Sets— as deactivating OOB features in SGC may impact its future updates.

Bonus Tip: CI Identifiers for the Hardware class and its child classes cannot be customized ( in case using SGC for Jamf)

Thanks Laveena

Was it there much effort required? IE was it a simple enough process or did it require extra dev work?

Trying to work out the value of getting a small volume of mac via discovery and if it is worth the trouble

@GChat  - You are right , not much dev effort.
