Sophos Firewall - CL Class Manager

We have recently purchased some Sophos Firewalls however these are not visible to ServiceNow Discovery and therefore needing to be manually created.

When trying to add them via the CI Class Manager there appears to be no child class for Sophos Firewall Device under Configuration Item > Hardware > Network Gear > IP Firewall > Firewall Devices.
There are options however for:
- Cisco Firewall Device
- Fortinet Firewall Device
- Juniper Firewall Device
- Palo Alto Firewall Device

Would it be recommended to create the child class (i would have though we're not the first to have these and therefore expected it to be part of ServiceNow OOTB) or should these be created under a different class?

You can create a child class for your Sophos Firewall Device, or create them as Firewall Device and specify them on the record itself. It's not strange that ServiceNow doesn't provide every single Firewall as its own class. There are too many out there.

Super, thanks Mark. It's sort of what I thought.

On checking the information in the following URL for each release, we can see that new classes for firewalls have been getting added as part of the updated versions of 'CMDB CI class models' plugin:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/washingtondc-servicenow-platform/page/product/configuration-manag...

So it is very much possible that ServiceNow may add an OOB class for Sophos firewall as part of upcoming versions of CMDB CI class models plugin. Considering that possibility, i think it might be better to use the parent 'Firewall devices' class for now to capture these devices. If they introduce an OOB child class for Sophos firewall later, it would be easier to migrate from the parent class to the new class.

Also try raising a case with ServiceNow support to check if they currently have any plans in their roadmap to introduce an OOB class for this.
