Virtual Servers Listed as Assets and CI

Should Virtual devices be listed as both an asset and a CI? Is there any impact on SAM if this doesn't happen and they are only listed as a CI?

Our rule is that virtual devices should only be CIs and an asset should be a physical device that you can asset tag and physically track as it moves within the company.  You will still be able to see the installation information on virtual devices even if they're only tracked as a CI so you should be able to leverage that information in SAM.
