HR Lifecycle Event Engine vs Enterprise Onboarding and Transition

Hello,

because clients often ask which module to purchase, I was wondering what is the exact difference between the HR Lifecycle Events and the Enteprise Onboarding and Transition Lifecylce.

From Orlando on, this two are seperated and in need of two different plugins.

Regarding docs, the difference is that HR Lifecyle Events are used for Requests and Lifecycle ONLY in between the HR Department.

In Enterprise and onboarding it is possible, to create Lifecylce Events enterprise wide. Meaning, that you can also generate cross-over flows and tasks e.g. for IT.

Now I tested two instances: One with only the HR Lifecycle Plugin and one with additional Enterpise Onboarding and Transition plugin.

Outcome: They can do both. Meaning, you can also create Enterprise wide Lifecylce Events with only the HR Lifecycle Event Builder and  without enteprise. So different than the official sources from ServiceNow say.

I am wondering, what is the exact difference between these two Packages? Do I even need the Enterprise module which costs extra? It seems that the HR Lifecyle Engine from HR Professional can do the same. What's the additional value-add compared to the HR Professional package?

Thanks.

Functionally the two plugins are essentially the same. It comes down to a licensing question and based on the subscription you have determines how you can use the Lifecycle Events capabilities.

With an HRSD Professional license, Lifecycle Events can be used for personal and professional events where fulfillment is performed only by HR. This excludes enterprise / multi-departmental events, such as Onboarding, Offboarding, and Transfers.

With an HRSD Enterprise license, Lifecycle Events can be used for full multi-departmental events, such as Onboarding, Offboarding, Transfers, and others.

Hi Kevin,

Could you please give examples for both scenarios ?

Thanks

Vijay

Hi Vijah,

For example, with HRSD Pro, which doesn't include Enterprise Onboarding & Transitions, you can create a lifecycle event if HR wants to manage/automate steps in the onboarding process (e.g., run a background check, send a welcome email, setup payroll, etc.) that might require a prehire/new hire, their manager, or someone within HR to complete an HR case or task or if HR wants to notify others outside of HR (e.g. an IT email informing a team of a new hire starting).

With HRSD Enterprise, which includes Enterprise Onboarding & Transitions, you can create a lifecycle event if HR wants to manage/automate cross-departmental steps in the onboarding process (e.g. after the background check is complete, automatically send a new hire order guide to the manager to select equipment and access (which upon submission generates a REQ, RITM, SCTASK which is inside the ITSM module, NOT HRSD)). This provides end-to-end visibility within the onboarding process and streamlines communication, coordination, and automation across departments.
