What happens with HR Task when due date expires?

Hi,
I would like to understand what the OOTB process is when the due date is reached on HR Task.
Once we set the due date in HR task and due date is expired , we see in the portal that the task is overdue. State of HR Task remains "Work in progress". We can set interval days in the template to remind the user that the task is overdue. Is there something that I missed in OOTB process?
Anything else would be a custom process, such as the Flow to change the HR task status if due date expires, send the notification or delete the task when the due date is expired.

@miro2 Other than what you mentioned, the HR Task does not take any actions other than the notifications when the HR Task is past the due date.

@miro2 The field is there to track when the HR Task is due and trigger notification. You can write your custom logic/flow/workflow on top to use this according your HR process needs.
