Hi ,
Recently, we upgraded our UAT instance to the Zurich release. Before the upgrade, we performed a clone to UAT. After the cloning process, I observed that in ATF, all the step configurations were missing. When I checked the Step Configuration table, it was showing only 5 records instead of the usual 120.
Could you please help me understand how to retrieve the previous step configurations or restore all the missing ATF step configuration records?
Thanks & Regards,
Kishore Kumar

Hi @kishorek9987311 ,
After cloning and upgrading your UAT instance to Zurich, if your Automated Test Framework (ATF) Step Configuration table shows only 5 records instead of the full 120, this typically indicates that the data was not fully cloned or some issue occurred during the upgrade or clone process.
How to Retrieve or Restore Missing ATF Step Configurations
Verify Source Instance Data
Check the source instance you cloned from and confirm that all 120 step configuration records still exist there.
Export the full set of step configurations from the source instance using Export XML or through an Update Set.
Import Data to UAT
If the source instance has the data, import the exported XML or Update Set files into your UAT instance to restore the missing step configurations.
Review Clone Logs
Investigate the clone logs for any errors or warnings related to ATF tables or data.
Sometimes, clone exclusions or errors cause data loss, and you might need to rerun the clone or fix issues.
Check for Plugin or Schema Changes
The Zurich upgrade may include changes to the ATF schema or data storage.
Review ServiceNow release notes and upgrade documentation to check for related changes.
Ensure relevant ATF plugins are activated and up to date.
Check User Permissions and Filters
Ensure you have the necessary roles (e.g., admin, atf_admin) to view all step configurations.
Verify that no list filters or ACLs are hiding these records.
Restore From Backup or Snapshots
If cloning did not preserve the data and you have backups or snapshots from before the clone/upgrade, restore the step configuration records from those backups.
Recreate Missing Configurations
If all else fails, recreate the step configurations manually or from documentation.
Maintain exports going forward for easier recovery.
Best Practices
Always export important configuration data like ATF steps before cloning or upgrading.
Validate critical data after clone or upgrade.
Use Update Sets or scoped apps to migrate and backup configuration.
This approach will help you recover or restore the full ATF Step Configuration records after the Zurich upgrade and cloning process to your UAT instance.
If it is helpful, please hit the thumbs button please mark the answer as correct based on the impact!!
Kind Regards,
