invalid password?

Randall Arnold

After logging out or letting a developer session lapse, when I try to log in again to my developer instance (dev68618) I get an error saying my password is invalid (it isn't).  This has happened multiple times (sometimes resolves itself later) so today I was very deliberate in resetting the password for the umpteenth time, and verified everything was ok before letting the session lapse.  But once again the error recurred... and often when it happens I'm sent into a password reset loop or even blocked from resetting it outright for a while.

I see other users reporting similar problems so this sounds like something systemic to me... is this being worked on?  Can we get SSO?

For reference: this is with the latest Firefox browser.  I am completely unable to get the developer instance to work on IE or Edge (loaded pages are blank).

Are you referring to logging in to your personal developer instance or the developer portal (developer.servicenow.com)?

When a personal instance is assigned to you, we provide you with a temporary password for admin user, which you can update as needed, and you can also create new users on your personal instance.

Developer portal, however, uses SSO. You can log in to dev portal by clicking on Log in link in the header, which will route you through the SSO flow.

I'm referring to the developer instance as noted in my post.  When I mentioned SSO, I'm referring to the issue of having 2 distinct passwords for portal and instance.  Why can't the portal password pass through?

And I understand all about the admin password.  I've had to reset it many, many times due to the sort of issue I'm reporting.  And often after I do, the new password is declared invalid when I next try to login.

I had entertained the possibility that I was wrong about the new password(s), but today I documented every step as I reset both the portal and instance passwords so it's not a matter of mistyping or forgetting on my part.  Something is causing the instance authenticator to falsely flag my changed password as invalid.

This is continuing to be an issue.  Every single time I log into my developer instance, I must first reset the admin password.

...and back to being completely unable to login.  Can't reset password either: I gave up after submitting and watching the page hourglass for 15 minutes in Firefox.  Also can't create a new instance (tried in case mine had lapsed); I go into an authentication loop again.

About to give up on this.
