Knowledge Bulk Translation - Request Translation link Not Working.

Hi Community Members,

I am currently exploring bulk translation of knowledge articles via localization framework which is introduced in Tokyo.

Hence, I have followed steps mentioned in the doc below:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/tokyo-servicenow-platform/page/product/knowledge-management/conce...

Moreover, after following the steps I open knowledge article, I see request translations link at left bottom of the article but when I click it nothing happens (As per doc expectation is that a window will popup to ask desired language and post the localization task will be created.)

Please let me know if I am missing something or if anyone have faced this issue ..

So the user journey is essentially like this:

  1. [Request translation] - task is generated for that article in the desired language
  2. In the task, articles can either be manually translated by a person in the Comparison UI, or "Translate" can be used to send to a CloudMT provider using Dynamic Translation, or it can be sent to a "TMS".
  3. A "Draft" article is created when either the user has clicked "Publish" or the workflow being used for the artifact is "auto-publish" is reached,
  4. The subsequent article will need to be "Published" as per the KB flow being used in that KB

You might find the following clip (from a previous webinar) useful as I go through the concepts of how the Localization Framework works:

^ It should be in the last chapter,

@Manasa Reddy Li,

If some task generations are showing as skipped, that might be because you may already have some translation asks for those source articles in the requested languages already in-flight (aka in progress), so it might be worth double checking if that's the case,

In terms of finding the new article number, at that point it doesn't exist. This is because the LFTask generates a "draft" article when the "publish" stage of the LFtask is performed, hence no new KB article number to show at that point,

Many thanks,

Hi Alex,

Thankyou for the quick response. When I do Bulk Translation from Spanish to English, LFTask gets created and marked as "closed Complete". But, when i open the newly translated KB article the translation is not done and all the content is in "Spanish" itself. Can you please help with this ?

@Alex Coope - SN I have chosen a few articles (1-3) to translate, despite that the localization task is not getting created. Am I missing something?

@Manal Aquil

Out of curiosity, in your "setting" for the knowledge Article artifact, has the tickbox for "Enable Projects" been ticked? If it has, try unticking it and requesting the article again. If it is that, it's because you haven't got a Project to associate to, and that feature is when you want to do say a whole KB or a whole Catalog as a single project to release the translations for use at the same time,

Many thanks,
Kind regards

Thanks for responding @Alex Coope - SN

Yes after disabling, (Enable Projects) ..It works as expected .

Another question :

once we translate the article in comparison UI after we click translate in localization task. I see an article with 0.01 version got created as per This ( but its not in the translated language). Do I need to install dynamic translation plugin now or integrate with translation provider? (if so then steps needs to be updated in product doc) 🙂
