I need help. I am in Kingston. I thought I read the documentation correctly.
I createe the template for the change request and the Create New will pick up the template from the toggle template bar and create the normal change request. However, the process is not creating the change task under the change request from the child template I have tied. Maybe I am doing it wrong.
I have my main Change Request template with these keys:
Table:change_request, global, active, Link Element --None--, Next Related Child Template: Task_Template1
Next Related Template : blank
I have my Task_Template1 template with these keys:
Table: change_task , global, active, Link Element : Change Request (selected from drop down list),
Next Related child template : blank Next Related Template : blank.

The change process (normal, Emergency, or STD) should be driven from the workflow and not templates. The workflow will drive a consistent process, create change tasks, get approval, etc. You should review the out of box Change workflow.

Thank you Michael for the prompt reply and suggested direction.
we do use the OOTB workflow engine. Due to circumstances, I am researching other functionality within the tool. Are you saying that what I am trying to do, cannot be done?

No. What you're trying to do should work, however you'll end up with tasks from the workflow and tasks from the template. Normally, you would add individual Tasks to STD Changes, not Normal & Emergency. Normal & Emergency should follow a defined process.

Thank you. I am actually trying to blend the two. We have people that like to create tasks to help them manager their changes. These tasks vary depending on each person's preference. They add these tasks each time after the workflow engine creates the base tasks that are required. I want them to be able to create a change from a template that loads their unique tasks and then at the proper time, the workflow engine loads the required change tasks onto the change request.
Thus this posting for help. I think I have it set up correctly. Am I reading the documentation right? What am I doing wrong? Why won't the system make my task? etc..
