Set Assignment Group for RITM automatically

Hi-

I have been trying to figure out how an assignment group is set automatically when a new request is generated.   I created a new workflow, and for some reason, I can't get this field to populate automatically.   This is the first workflow I've done, and currently, all of our other ones populate this field.   What I can't figure out is where it's getting pulled from. (This is the 'assignment_group' field; it's just been renamed to 'ownership group').   I've asked some other of my SN co-workers, but they couldn't find an answer either.   I looked in business rules and client scripts but didn't see anything that stood out to me, that addressed this field.   Any help is appreciated!

actually correction to that... it isn't on the requested item but on the CATALOG item.. so on your catalog item form you SHOULD have a group field... set that to the fulfillment group.

I typically set this through the workflow. I would look at other workflows that do set this to see how it may be done. Please share with us so others will be able to use the same solution.


I looked through quite a few other workflows but couldn't determine where this is set.   I looked at properties, but there's nothing in there about setting the assignment group.   Any idea where I could look to find where it gets set?


my first question would be how does it behave... are all items assigned or just some items?



are they assigned before the request that created them is approved or only after the requested is approved, or as soon as they are inserted into the database?



if you just go to the requested item table and click new.. does it auto assign it or not...



OOB the assignment group field isn't on the item form and isn't populated i don't think so we will have to know how yours behaves in order to have some idea of where to look.

ok first off why are we assigning ritm's?? OOB these are left unassigned since there is no work on the item and we don't want people closing them.. the item itself is generally left unassigned and the tasks are assigned...



as to how it is getting populated look for a br on the ritm table with assignment_group   in the script... if that fails look for the same on the request table.. with something that would create the items/find the items....



but the first thing i would do is look at the policy of assigning items.. what does this gain you?
