We've noticed that Discovery is a popular topic on the community and in the product documentation. Because of this, we've created a video series that:

  • Introduces discovery
  • Demonstrates what a successful discovery looks like in the system
  • Helps troubleshoot common issues which can occur at each phase of Discovery

In this playlist you will find 5 videos on troubleshooting difference phases of the Discovery process:

  1. Troubleshooting a Failed Discovery Part 1 of 5: Introduction -   demonstrates what a successful Discovery looks like in the system, to provide a frame of reference for the rest of the troubleshooting series.
  2. How to Troubleshoot a Failed Discovery Part 2 of 5: Scanning Phase - provides troubleshooting tips for Discovery issues at the Scanning phase, including the following: nothing active on the network and device is alive but not active.
  3. How to Troubleshoot a Failed Discovery Part 3 of 5: Classification Phase - troubleshooting tips for Discovery issues at the Classification phase, including the following: SSH authentication errors on Unix and bad PowerShell configurations on Windows.
  4. How to Troubleshoot a Failed Discovery Part 4 of 5: Identification Phase - troubleshooting tips for Discovery issues at the Identification phase, including the following: identified; ignored extra IP message (not an error) and multiple matches found in the CMDB.
  5.
