We’re excited to announce a new Tag Based Alert Clustering Engine app that works seamlessly with ServiceNow ITOM Event Management to further reduce event noise. The app lets you group alerts based on similar alert content and doesn’t require alerts to be bound to corresponding configuration items (CIs). This complements existing Event Management alert grouping capabilities and provides rapid time to value since it can be used even if you haven’t discovered your IT infrastructure yet.
Setting up a correlation tag with the new app only takes a few minutes and doesn’t require you to write scripts. You can specify multiple alert conditions for the group—for example, alerts with matching node and metric names that occur within 15 minutes of each other. Any alert field can be used for matching, and you can also group based on JSON keys such as location in the alert’s additional information field. The app supports both exact and fuzzy matching, and it can also group based on attributes of the alert’s corresponding CI if available.
