Trying to keep up with the latest and greatest Event Management (EM) content? You are not alone.
Before we started moving content to ServiceNow store apps, we often had finished content that sat on the shelf gathering dust before the next Family release. This put a whole new spin on the concept of shelfware.
For ITOM, new content means that we can ultimately provide data to the Instance to power more workflows. More content, more data, better work flow. Clearly, we need a way to deliver new content to customers as soon as it is ready, which is why we now post new content on a regular basis via the ServiceNow store.
It is important to be aware that there is more than one store app that contains content. As of Rome, the ITOM Health apps to track from a content perspective are Event Management Connectors, ACC Monitoring and ACC Log Analytics. It is also highly recommended that you logon to store.servicenow.com and subscribe to app notifications. You will then receive notification when new versions of the apps are released. |
Is content dependent on the mode of working? No. The content provides an OOB way to get data needed for work flow into the Instance.
There are two basic modes of working that ServiceNow facilitates: centralized power and distributed power. While there will always be shared human resources in some fashion of a centralized power model, it is also true that distributed power models facilitate speed and agility. Records are generated regardless of how power is distributed and in order to get the benefits of the Common Data Model, the System of Record and the System of Action, we use content to facilitate getting data into ServiceNow. EM Content supports both modes of working.
Power distribution models evolve and there are some consistent themes that we hear. Customers want to go fast and at the same time, they do not want blindspots. Some data sources remove more blindspots than others and simply provide more value to work flow.
One example of a high value data source is Lightstep: The DevOps observability platform. The Lightstep connector is available today and we would love your feedback.
