ServiceNow is the data platform for IT. Machine data dominates data-driven decision making and enables critical workflows with the ServiceNow platform. ServiceNow Discovery and Service mapping solution is helping several enterprise / federal customers to effectively track the applications to infrastructure dependency mapping. With ServiceNow Paris release, Discovery and Service Mapping customers can use the platform machine learning capability to fingerprint application running process and the discovery logic will create application CIs in CMDB Application (cmdb_ci_appl) table.
Discovery detects running process data from servers and populates process name, PID, process parameters to cmdb_running process table. Machine learning algorithms will use the consolidated process data, use advanced classification and clustering logic to auto group them into smart process groups, which will be ranked by the ML algorithm recommendation engine as candidates for application configuration item creation.
“Taking the right action to fulfill an objective is one definition of intelligence, and it's the preferred definition of artificial intelligence”
ML suggested application fingerprinting method helps customers to accelerate the detection of homegrown applications. ML suggested smart grouping methods can also detect cluster groups between apps deployed in java with extended clustering logic on process parameters. The creation of application CIs from ML helps to accelerate. “Predictive Intelligence” plugin is a must-have for this feature. Enhanced visibility to application CIs via ML can enable outcomes like application portfolio management, improved ITSM process ( change / Incident/problem), Security vulnerability response, DevOps, and AIOps workflows.
