I am not sure if you have heard of workflow revolution, it's happening - Servicenow is leading it. You might ask me what is a workflow - I would just tell you in laymen's terms - it's "Automation". Since the Industry revolution - automation has changed how things work and I am not sure whether you know it or not we are in the fourth industrial revolution where we are trying to digitize how humans work and automating processes. Automation saves time and time is more valuable than money.
I can go for hours talking about Automation and AI, let's get back to the topic at hand - Workflow IT or Automating IT with ACC Spoke a.k.a OSQ Spoke.
Intro:
I am not sure if you know about spoke, a spoke is basically a bunch of actions(features) bundled on Servicenow's Flow Designer alias IntegrationHub. ACC spoke provides a framework to write customized workflows or automation to execute on Agents(ACC), you might ask me what is an Agent, a Agent(ACC) is basically a piece of Servicenow's software installed on a host machine like laptops and servers.
With ACC spoke workflows, you can automate key outcomes and what are those key outcomes (below)
- A key enabler for SIR and Compliance: Use ACC Spoke’s OSQ Powered Security Analytics for fleet visibility, intrusion detection, incident investigation, and enrichment, and manage compliance.
- A key enabler for ITSM: Use ACC Spoke to run troubleshooting steps via workflow needed to resolve issues.
- A key enabler for SAM and HAM: Use ACC Spoke’s OSQ and Command actions to collect software inventory. Also, you could use ACC Spoke to run laptop stolen workflows and asset watchlist workflows.
Architecture:
ACC Spoke is built on top of Agent and Agent is bundled with OSQ (osquery.io) plugin, which allows the agent to access the OS layer tables [ wow.. our Agent won the debate hands-down ].
In-action:
With ACC Spoke, customers could run OS queries and commands and detailed documentation of actions with screenshots can be found on our store listing. Also, we have bundled a couple of workflows with this spoke that customers cloud get the immediate value of installing spoke, these are sample flows that could help citizen developers to use this as a reference to build workflows on top of ACC Spoke.
After installation of ACC Spoke(Agent Client Collector spoke) application from Store, customers can see the spoke on "Action" Palette of Servicenow's Flow Designer alias IntegrationHub.
Customers can use Run Osquery commands and pass either an Agent or CI( Configuration Item) as a parameter and get the output in JSON or String format.
