What’s new in Paris ITOM: predict, prevent, and automated across your IT
The world of work has changed with recent events. The ability for companies to accelerate the digital transformation process is critical to supporting the growing business resiliency needs for their IT operations. With the ServiceNow Paris Release, many of our features will help directly address workplace IT priorities in today’s changing environment. The complexity of today’s IT infrastructure has huge impact the IT operations experience especially when many workplace environments are now virtual. The biggest challenges are limited visibility due to siloed stacks, poor operation resilience and manual processes.
ITOM Paris addresses these problems by predicting cost impact issues with real time data correlation and noise reduction with Application Fingerprinting for Service Mapping. Business resilience is improved through prevention of potential problems and outages with improved group alert correlation and probably root cause analysis. Manual tedious processes are reduced through automation, this case Firewall deployment and management with our Firewall Inventory and Audit Application. See a showcase of ITOM Paris Release Features below:
Agent Client Collector for Monitoring (Limited Access)
As many employees work remotely and physical face to face interaction is limited or restricted, the most important aspect for IT Operations teams is being proactive in resolving problems as they occur. For example, when most employees today are working remote and VPN application service goes down the impact on employee productivity and operations will be costly. IT Ops teams need trust and rely on their monitoring capabilities to reduce the mean time to repair for these outages.
Agent Client Collector for Monitoring fulfills a highly requested demand in providing agent-based monitoring solution built into the ServiceNow platform. Agent Client Collector is a Sensu Go based agent that provides a comprehensive infrastructure (database and servers) and application services monitoring system. Agent Client Collector can deploy agents on multiple servers to be managed through checks and policies. Agent Client Collector will be able to monitor applications and CIs including endpoints. Agent Client Collector will monitor the health of a CI then push this data onto the MID Server where it is converted into an event or metric to be ingested by our existing Event Management solution on your ServiceNow instance. Agent Client Collectors for Monitoring will reduce dependency on 3rd party tools to save costs.
Application Fingerprinting for Service Mapping
Many of our customers such as hospitals utilize multiple custom homegrown applications that were not properly mapped in the CMDB. These applications are business critical such as the details of surgical operations a patient has received. The time-consuming manual process on creating an application service and having it identified and mapped to your CMDB would hurt productivity severely and often times the application services would not be mapped at all leading to a blind spot. When problems occurred with your applications. it would be difficult to remediate as you would have blind spot on your CMDB.
Application Fingerprinting for Service Mapping provides automated ML-based creation of patterns for application service creation. It utilizes aspects of Performance Analytics from the Now Platform@ to power creation of the suggested patterns that identify the custom applications. It works within minutes vs multiple days so IT teams can save time manually mapping custom applications and focusing on resolving the outage and saving enterprises money in the long run.
Group Alert Correlation and Probable Root Cause Analysis
Being able to reduce noise and reduce mean time to repair is paramount in our age of digital transformation. With the Paris Alert Intelligence that uses natural language processing based (NLP) alert correlation will group alerts based on CI Classes vs individual Cis in the pattern aggregation window. This will lead to reduce mean time to repair as there are group-based alerts and less alert noise.
Proactively identifying and resolving the root cause of a problem is also important for IT Operations teams. Oftentimes previous Root Cause Analysis only identified one root cause and if it was not the culprit, there would be long hours working backwards to track down the root CI. For Paris, ITOM Health’s Root Cause Analysis now has more contextual based root causes that show multiple root causes with metrics and confidence score on if the CI is the root cause of the outage or issue. Outages can be proactively resolved with this so it will reduce MTTR.
Firewall Inventory and Audit Application
Security threats are more complex and dangerous now than ever before. Security is also more important as many employees may not be working in secure offices but at less compliant and secure home offices. To keep up with increasingly complex IT infrastructure and challenging employee security practices, businesses need effective security measures that can protect their critical components. Protecting these assets requires a solid firewall management strategy. Businesses will often need to manage firewalls through audit and proactive systems of firewall deployment.
The Firewall Inventory and Audit Application is an application that helps automate management of firewalls and their policies. The Firewall Inventory and Audit Application can identify and map firewalls in your IT estate to the CMDB to help establish a better audit framework. There is a fast firewall change request fulfillment that deploys firewalls with a few clicks vs manual disjointed processes. The process can be automated and managed through firewall policies that will drive workflows and productivity leading to an end result of improve visibility and security.
Tune into the Paris launch broadcast on October 6 to learn more about these features and enable your IT Operations success!
