Hello,
I know on the wiki there is an outline for what the minimum requirements are for sizing MID server but are there any documents around sizing for discovery/service mapping? I'm assuming that an enterprise discovery would require more resources then that of a small business. Curious if anyone has anything they can share. Thanks.

Excellent estimate was given by Doug in this post. We have to keep in mind that java will take memory and more & faster cores will always be a plus point.

Robert, I'm thinking your question just deals with discovery MID servers, but want to clarify.
We currently have a single physical server (blade with 12 CPU cores and 20gb ram) running 16 MID services. It runs discovery jobs every single day, and 'MID Server Avg CPU Use % Last 30 Days' reporting shows utilization over 90% all the time. We have over 2.8mil CIs; therefore, we are looking to build a number of VM servers.
Also we have a project to install Service Mapping (ServiceWatch with ~1600 applications) by the end of 2017. Plus we are looking at some integrations with other systems (SNOW License manager).
So we want to ensure the size and quantity of our additional VMs is enough to meet our needs for the next 3 years. Any suggestions how to determine all of these needs together?
