Q1. There is list of 100 IPs where you are having Window devices, Unix device, Network device, Storage device. Now the requirement is from the list of IPs only network device should get discovered. How to do that?
-> Behavior and Schedule cannot be used
Q2: What is Pattern and when it come into the picture? Only Probe and Sensor is not sufficient for discovery?
Q3. You want to add new Pattern. Now after adding new pattern where it will get excuted?
1. after/before exploration 2. after/before implementation 3. after/before classification
What will be the order
Q4: When inclusion and exclusion rule will get executed in the discovery after which step?

@ShubhiSharm Here is my suggestion:
A1:
a.) You can run the discovery for all IPs and whichever devices are responded on 161 port that means those are Network Devices.
b.) Use Discovery Pre Script on the Discovery Schedule to allow only network devices to proceed with discovery. Best option is a.)
A2:
A Pattern is a step-based logic used during the Exploration phase of Discovery to retrieve detailed information about a CI.
Probes and Sensors are low-level and script-heavy (legacy approach), while Patterns are the modern, scalable method for discovering complex infrastructures and are preferred in horizontal discovery.
Tip: Use Patterns for structured, CI Class driven discovery. Probes/Sensors alone are not sufficient for deep exploration.
A3: A Pattern runs during the Exploration phase, which happens after Classification and Identification.
Order: Scanning --> Classification --> Identification --> Exploration (Patterns runs here)
A4:
Inclusion/Exclusion rules are applied immediately after Classification, and before Identification and Exploration.
This ensures Discovery only proceeds for IPs that meet the inclusion criteria and are not excluded.
