Supported database versions

We are a DOD and are working to implement ServiceNow San Diego. We currently run MariaDB Community version 10.x and when trying to STIG the database it popped multiple CAT1 issues. Further research seems to indicate that no version of MariaDB will pass the STIGs. Certainly other installations have run across this, we are wondering if we need to switch to a different backend database, we have been told SN currently supports MariaDB and Oracle as backend databases. Does SN support any other databases? Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL? Has anyone else run across STIG issues with MariaDB?

Hi Kitz

I would recommend you to connect with Service Now Sales Rep for same. In GA domain service now as a SAAS provider do not expose many information.

Does SN support any other databases? Postgres, SQL Server, MySQL?---> Service Now Internal team are the best one to answer this.

Has anyone else run across STIG issues with MariaDB?-- As a saas provider DB is not directly accessible to US. But you can ask service now provide the same on security aspect and other DB tests for security.

As a big SAAS provider service now will definitely have answer to ur queries

KITZ,

I believe MariaDB and Oracle are the only supported DBs.

MariaDB is a fork of MySQL that SN use, I am not sure how reliant SN is on features in MariaDB that are not in MySQL.

I suspect you would need to switch to Oracle as a back end as I do not believe Postgres or SQL Server are supported, as Rahul mentioned, best thing would be to contact your account representative.
