Why is host data collection failing

We have deployed agent client collector to a number of servers in our environment and one of these agents is returning a 'host data collection failed' error. Because of these we're unable to run checks though this agent.

What are the possible reasons for the host data collection failing? All agents have been installed with the default ServiceNow account so there should be no issues with the permissions of the user running the commands and the server that the agent is installed on has been discovered separately so there shouldn't be any reason for the agent to collect the data on the host.

The host in question is a windows server 2016 running IIS and the agent version is 2.5.

What exactly is the agent trying to do when it is 'collecting host data'?

Are there any documents with steps on how to troubleshoot this step?

Thanks in advance

Hi Kyle,

Are you using ACC-V for discovery?

@Severin Launiau Is that related to a known issue that was fixed?

Thanks,

Nir

Hi Nir,

How would I know if I am using ACC-V for discovery?

I am able to run discovery separately from a discovery schedule, however it is after installing the agent that the host collection is failing.

Hi,

I've connected ACC to my servicenow instance. However, the host data collection is failing for my agent. Can anyone please assist how to fix this?

Noticed this error in the system logs:
"output":"sh: endpoint_discovery.rb: command not found\n",

Thanks!!
