Hi Team,
I'm facing an issue with a List Report on the Requested Item (sc_req_item) table involving two Reference Catalog Variables:
- Change Request Number
- Incident Number
Both variables contain valid values on the RITM record, and the values are visible when I open the RITM form.
Scenario 1
When I arrange the report columns like this:
- Number
- Item
- Change Request Number (Reference Variable)
- Incident Number (Reference Variable)
- Other catalog variables
Total columns display (empty) in the report, even though the variables have values.
Scenario 2
When I move the same two reference variable columns to the end of the report like this:
- Number
- Item
- Other catalog variables
- Change Request Number (Reference Variable)
- Incident Number (Reference Variable)
The report displays the values correctly for those two fields.
Additional verification
- The report is built on the sc_req_item table.
- The two fields are Reference Catalog Variables, not actual columns on sc_req_item.
- The variable values are populated and visible on the RITM form.
- Only the report behavior changes based on the position of these two columns.
Since changing the column order should not affect the report results, I'm trying to understand whether this is:
- a known limitation with Reference Catalog Variables in List Reports,
- a platform defect, or
- if any additional configuration is required.
Has anyone experienced similar behavior or found a solution?
Please help me with this
Thanks in advance!

strange
Keep them towards the end and raise a case with ServiceNow about this behavior.

Hi @SravaniP7164971 ,
Either raise a case with Servicenow Vendor
OR
Create a database view and report from that
Reporting on Catalog item variables
