How can I find out if there is a cost associated with a plugin?

Is it safe to assume that if I am able to activate a plugin in production there is no cost associated? Is there any information that will help to determine if there is a cost?

I am looking to activate the  Change Management - Standard Change Catalog Plugin.

Thanks!

Kiesha,

It is not safe to assume that, if you can enable a plugin, there's no extra fee.

However, by using the Subscription Management application in your production instance, you should be able to tell if a plugin is included in your existing license subscriptions.

  1. In Production, navigate to Subscription Management > Subscriptions.
  2. Click on a subscription.
  3. View the Subscription Applications related list.   There, you will see the list of plugins that are included in the subscription. These may be activated for no additional fee.

This takes the guesswork out of it.

You can activate a plugin that is associated with a for-fee subscription only if your organization has purchased the subscription.

Before you begin

Role required: usage_admin or admin

Procedure

  1. On your production ServiceNow instance, navigate to Subscription Management > Subscriptions. The page lists all subscriptions that your organization has purchased.

Note: If the subscription does not appear in the list, contact your ServiceNow account representative to purchase the subscription.

  2. Click a subscription name and then, on the Subscription form, click an application name in the Subscription Applications related list. (A subscription can include multiple applications.) The page lists the plugins that are associated with the application.

Below is a link to how to activate that plugin:

I verified in my OOB instance that this plugin is a fee-based plugin

About this task

Standard Change Catalog activates the following related plugin if it is not already active.

Change management is used to create and manage change requests. Once this is activated, it updates the values for the Type field on the change request.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to System Definition > Plugins.
  2. Find and click the plugin name.
  3. On the System Plugin form, review the plugin details and then click theActivate/Upgrade related link.If the plugin depends on other plugins, these plugins are listed along with their activation status. If the plugin has optional features that depend on other plugins, those plugins are listed under Some files will not be loaded because these plugins are inactive. The optional features are not installed until the listed plugins are installed (before or after the installation of the current plugin).
  4. (Optional) If available, select the Load demo data check box. Some plugins include demo data—Sample records that are designed to illustrate plugin features for common use cases.
