How to manually add newly created User Groups to current update set?

Hi,

I have created 5 User Groups with roles, no members. It did not get captured into the update set. How can I import an group XML file to the update set? or it has to be done via UI Action? if so Please explain step by step, your help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
