Is there a limit to the number of Child tickets which can be linked to a Parent Incident Ticket?

We suspect that an Incident ticket which has over 600 associated child tickets is degrading performance. We also note that when an attempt is made to post a work note to the Parent, it is not appearing in its activity log, but the posts are slowly appearing in the activity logs of the Child tickets.

There is no hard limit (nothing would stop you from linking as many incidents as exist) but you can certainly start to see performance issues when that many records are part of a related list.
One way you can test if this is the cause is to go into your account settings and under Forms, change the Related Lists to "On Demand" and see what difference that makes. The list will only be loaded when you click on it instead of at form load.
Hope this helps!
If this was helpful or correct, please be kind and click appropriately!

Hi Michael, thanks for your response it was very helpful.
Now we know there's no limit as such for the number of Child tickets associated with a Parent, it does stand to reason that a related list with a large number of rows could affect performance. Thanks for directing me to the 'Related load listing', I can see setting this to 'On Demand' could significantly reduce the load on our instance.
