Use only RITM and SCTask tables

Hello,

OOTB three tables are used for Request module: REQ, RITM and SCTask.

We would like to simplify that, because we don't need multiple RITM in a same REQ, so I want to suggest to use RITM and SCTask tables only.

Is my approach good? Do you have any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Dr Yassine

Hi Yassine,

This is a question a lot of teams have especially when they don't bundle multiple requested items under a single request.

Without breaking the relationship between REQ and RITM, you can consider customizing the order summary page to display RITM instead of REQ number.

Thanks,

Arav

yeah even if you didnt build such behaviour, I'm just saying why ServiceNow has two different tables for REQ and RITM. Same happens even when you use Order Guides. For one REQ multiple RITMS are generated.

I would suggest you to just hide the REQ value instead in the summary page. With this, user will not get confused of multiple numbers.

Mark as correct and helpful if it solved your query.

Hello Yassine,

I would suggest not to suggest using the RITM and SC Task without REQ as it will break the OOB ServiceNow Implementation/functionality. This will not reduce the complexity and it is only matter of time for the users to understand this process.

There could be a case where some other team may want to create Request with multiple RITMs in a single request and then it will be difficult to handle the implementation because the different team will see a different approach or process. You may think that this will resolve your issue today for the user/customer, but in future this may cause a lot more issue or complexity for user/customer
