While this guide is primarily designed for ServiceNow platform owners, it also contains useful information if you have a different role in your organization.

Start by familiarizing yourself with LSD
LSD comes with many capabilities that help you modernize legal operations with efficient service delivery. You can get an high-level overview of these capabilities on the LSD product page and datasheet. You’ll also find links to product documentation for selected capabilities in the box on the right.

However, you don’t need to implement everything at the start. Here are the key LSD capabilities to focus on first:

Legal Request Management: The ServiceNow® Legal Request Management application provides a unified mechanism for employees to get all the information, services, and help that they need from the legal department and a streamlined, collaborative process for the legal department to quickly resolve these requests (product page)(product documentation)

Legal Knowledge Management (Employee Facing): Powered by the Now Platform®, ServiceNow Legal Knowledge Management boosts employee and legal productivity by enabling businesses to scale the sharing, capturing, and management of important legal information, policies, and processes – both within the legal department and the enterprise departments they support (product brief)

 

This Legal Service Delivery (LSD) Fundamentals and Implementation on-demand course will also help you learn the basics of LSD. If you are new to ServiceNow, we also recommend that you take this very short Get Started with the Now Platform course to learn the platform basics. If you want a deeper dive into the Now Platform, a longer ServiceNow Fundamentals course is also available.

Identify your desired business outcomes

Before you start to implement LSD, it’s critical to have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish. LSD allows you to deliver many positive business outcomes, and you can achieve all of this over time. However, by deciding which outcomes are most important for your organization and agreeing on them with your stakeholders, you can set clear expectations and tailor your initial implementation to realize these goals.

Legal Service Delivery enables legal departments to structure legal intake. While every department is at a different level of maturity, the most important outcomes are typically aligned with top level c-suite metrics around productivity. To that end – some outcomes might be:

  1. To have all legal intake centralized – break out of siloed information.
  2. To standardize how legal affairs are handled
  3. To understand legal demand for resourcing purposes

Chart a path to implementation

Work with ServiceNow experts

If you have chosen to work with a ServiceNow partner or ServiceNow Expert Services for your implementation, it’s important to clearly communicate the business outcomes you want to achieve and agree on a well-structured roadmap to attain these goals. If you’re not already on the latest ServiceNow release, we strongly recommend that you upgrade before you go live. By upgrading, you get new ServiceNow innovations into the hands of your users faster, get access to the latest performance and security enhancements, and ensure that support is there when you need it. Prepare for organizational change

To successfully deploy LSD, you need your business to understand and use LSD and recognize its benefits. To do this, you need to communicate what’s changing and why to both your end users and service desk agents. You also need to ensure that your agents are trained on ServiceNow LSD.

Do we have ceritifications for LSD module?

@Nikhil_Biks There is not yet an LSD Cert to my knowledge but there is a Delivery Accreditation. There are also the sales and pre-sales accreditations as well.
