Per the below community article, we've opted to add a white background as an default catalog item icon for the Now Mobile application. However, one of our virtual agent topics recommends catalog items based on the user's feedback per the below screenshot. Is there a way we can hide the white background icon from Virtual Agent as well when it's try to recommend a catalog item for our end users? Thank you in advance!

Yes, you can hide the pictures but for that, you have to duplicate the topic - "Search Catalog Item". And modify the carousel to a scripted list or anything like that so the image is no longer used.
There is no easy or oob option to hide the images.
