Can HR Criteria be selected as an audience for Policy Acknowledgements

We recently implemented IRM.  I have created HR Criteria for visibility for knowledge articles and bulk case creations.  My HR Criteria often references the HR Profile, not the user record.  I don't see an option to use HR Criteria though as an audience for a policy acknowledgment campaign.  Has anyone been able to do this?

Hi @Dawn Conway

No, HR Criteria cannot be directly selected as an audience for Policy Acknowledgements.

The out-of-box Policy Acknowledgement audience supports Users, Groups, and User Filters. HR Criteria is not available as an audience type.

Your observation is correct, particularly because your HR Criteria is based on fields from the HR Profile (sn_hr_core_profile).

HR Criteria is primarily used for HR functionality such as HR Content, HR Services, HR Cases, and bulk HR case creation. Although it can evaluate conditions against HR Profile or User records, it is a separate mechanism from the audience configuration used by Policy Acknowledgements.

For this requirement, I would suggest checking whether the criteria can be handled through a User Filter:

  • If the required conditions are available on the User (sys_user) record, you can create a User Filter with those conditions and use it as the Policy Acknowledgement audience.

  • If the conditions exist only on the HR Profile , there is no direct OOB option to use the HR Criteria itself as the Policy Acknowledgement audience.

So, with the current OOB functionality, HR Criteria cannot be used directly as a Policy Acknowledgement audience. The key is whether the required population can be represented through a supported User Filter.
