Is there a way to configure the Now Assist panel so it only shows active or unread chats?

tl;dr:  When I see a number count on the Now Assist (sparkle) icon, I click on it, but I have to scroll, click Show more, and hunt for the unread chats.  I want to change this so I don't have to hunt.

 

I develop agentic workflows for demos.  The Now Assist sparkle icon or the All Chats icon will display a number when there is an unread chat.  When I am going through my development or otherwise generating a number of records that trigger the agentic flow, the currently displayed or active chat is not necessarily the one I want to see.  I have to hunt for the relevant chat.  And there is no way to just "mark all as read" and trigger the flow again so I can get a new chat going and focus on that. 

 

This experience is not fantastic. I understand why count badges are necessary--if the panel is closed, you need to know there's a new chat.  I know why iOS game developers use them, and why they make the source of the badge hard to find--they want you to click all over and through their app so you are compelled to use it and make some kind of purchase.  This is not the case with ServiceNow.  There's no reason to make finding the relevant conversation difficult to find.

 

So this is part complaint, part request for help. Is there a way to configure the panel to alleviate this woe?

 

One list gripe... When I ended a chat, I really did not need an unread chat notification telling me I had a new closed chat.

Hi Chris, I think you make some excellent points about the Now Assist Panel as it stands right now. This is a relatively new product so we're excited to get feedback in order to improve it. Would the below be the correct understanding of your desired enhancements?

  1. Ability to mass mark chats as "read" in order to zero out the badge counter
