How to capture complete catalog item in update set?

Hi,

I want to move few catalog items from one environment to other.

These catalog items were created long back and we don't have the trace of the update set used that time.

How can I capture the complete catalog item (catalog item, category, sub category, variable, variable set) into update so that I can move it to different environment.

One way to do this is to do modification in all place (item, category, variable set etc. ) to capture this in update set.

Do we have any other simple way where we don't miss on anything and it can be transferred to another environment.
