Fiscal Year Indicator

I am trying to create a Fiscal Year Indicator to be able to collect Fiscal Year to date or Fiscal Year Sum + scores.

After I created a Fiscal Yearly indicator source, and try creating an automated indicator, its giving me an error: Frequency should be same as indicator source valid for frequency.

See attached.

Also, what is the difference between Fiscal Year to date and Fiscal Year Sum + frequencies?

We migrated to Helsinki from Fuji over this weekend and want to add FY indicators to see the MTTR or other scores.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance,

Gita

Hi Gita,

on the indicator creation: make sure to create first the indicator source with the proper frequency and then create the indicator. When creating a new indicator, the Frequency field acts like a filter: set the frequency of the indicator and you can only select indicator source with the same frequency. (Leave the indicator frequency empty, and you could select any indicator source.)

Once an indicator source is selected, the Frequency field on the indicator form is no longer visible.

I've tested this on Helsinki patch 3.

On the time series: the 'Fiscal Year to Date' will show in a time series all data points collected for that fiscal year:

(in this example my fiscal year starts at Jan 1, and the indicator has a monthly frequency)

The 'Fiscal Year Sum+' will only show one data point for the whole year because it sums all collected scores:

(So the overall score is the same for both time series: 345 for this running year. As you can see, a yearly score is displayed as a Jan 1 score.)

When there are scores for previous years, they show in the chart as well and thus create a line chart showing the trend based on (calculated) yearly scores.

The 'Year to Date' would show a multi-year trend based on monthly scores and thus show a 'saw-tooth' chart, as at the beginning of the year the score is 'reset'.

I hope this helps.

Cheers, Pieter

Hi Peter,

Thanks for help.   I think the problem was from the Indicator source itself, when I hit New to create an indicator, it gets automatically populated with the same source.   In order to be able to save the new indicator with FY frequency,   I removed the indicator source, chose the Fiscal yearly frequency in the indicator and selected the source manually.   It worked.

I may get back to you for other questions regarding workbench as well.

Thanks,

Gita
