How to filter widgets by multiple elements?

Hi all,

I'm facing a requirement to be able to filter our dashboards by multiple Assignment Groups at the same time - this is for senior managers who are managing multiple groups, directly and indirectly (eg. 5 groups = bucket 1, 7 groups = bucket 2, 11 groups = bucket 3). Ideally, I'd like to create Elements Filters and then filter the dashboard using them - but I fail to find a way to do so?

Manually selecting all groups on a breakdown dashboard and showing as aggregate is not really an option, as a senior manager might have 3 or 4 buckets of groups reporting into him. I know it's possible to 'hard-code' widgets to show indicators already filtered by an Elements Filter, but in practice that would mean creating a different dashboard for each manager.

Appreciate any help, work-arounds or ideas on how to show metrics in this way!

I’ve got the same requirement- would love to hear if you found a solution?

My options so far are

1. A tab for each Sr leader- with widgets configured for each using the element filter.

 2.  The workbench widget displays element filters, but the layout is a hard sell.

I got stuck on the same options you mention:

1) create elements filters based on assignment groups and configure widgets individually for each Leader, place them on separate tabs. Tedious and not ideal, as the dashboard becomes cluttered with tabs and requires more maintenance.

2) Use the workbench widget - but this is not intuitive to the user and requires looking through tabs, instead of seeing all the metrics clearly. Plus the groups are shown separately rather than an aggregate score.

I was thinking whether it is possible to solve this at the score collection - create a breakdown eg. by assigned to. manager, but this then still requires multiple layers and would be hard to maintain.

Edit the required widget and Select Check box - Follow element in the widget record.

Important: Do not specify a breakdown and element on the widget record when you want the elements for that breakdown to be selected on a breakdown dashboard. The element on the widget record overrides any elements selected on the breakdown dashboard for that breakdown.

If more than one breakdown uses one of the breakdown sources on the dashboard, specify which breakdown applies to the widget in Followed breakdown.

In the Show multiple elements as field, select how to show scores when a dashboard viewer selects multiple breakdown elements.
Choose from two possibilities:

  • Aggregate, which shows a single, aggregate score of all selected elements.
  • Separate, which shows each selected element separately.

Not all widget and indicator types support both views. Some types do not support selecting multiple elements at all. If it is not possible to select multiple elements for a widget/indicator combination, the field says Not available.
