PA Breakdown - dependent value

JK9903

Hello everyone,

I have a requirement where I need to show report based on 2 breakdowns.

1. Group (assignment group)

2. Group members (assigned to)

In analytics hub, if I select a group, in the assigned to breakdown it should show only the members from the selected group. Is there any way to have this dependent value configuration in breakdown?

Steps taken

Created a record in breakdown relations

*in the below image it is not showing the actual group members.

Doesn't having assignment group as the first level breakdown and assigned to as the second level breakdown work?

Hi @jeffrubinoff ,

Thank you for your response.

I'm not using a widget. And in indicator breakdown matrix exclusion I tried to give assignment group and assigned to in the 2nd breakdown

I'm afraid I no longer understand what you are trying to do.
I thought you wanted to show indicator scores filtered first by Assignment Group and then by Assigned To.
But you have configured a breakdown matrix exclusion to prevent indicator scores from being filtered first by Assignment Group and then by Assigned to.
Also, in your original post, you describe creating a breakdown relation between your two breakdowns. But a breakdown relation does not filter by the first breakdown. It lets you navigate between the elements of the two first-level breakdowns without filtering, as described in the documentation:

Breakdown relations also enable navigation between the elements of different first-level breakdowns. For example, first choose an element of the Assignment Group breakdown, then look at the Members breakdown relation. In this relation, navigate to an element of the Assigned To breakdown. The selected member of Assigned To is not necessarily a member of the Assignment Group. Furthermore, the number of assignments of members of Assigned To is greater than the number of assignments of the selected Assignment Group. You see the total of all assignments, not only the assignments in the originally selected Assignment Group. You are changing which first-level breakdown you are looking at, not drilling down to a second level of breakdown and element.

This is why I asked whether having Assignment Group as the first level breakdown and Assigned To as the second worked. That is the standard approach. I don't understand why you configured a breakdown matrix exclusion.

I also have no idea how you want to report the indicator with two breakdowns if you are not using a widget. You implement the breakdowns on the visualization, be it a Performance Analytics widget or a Platform Analytics data visualization. How do you intend to do so?

Hi @JK9903

this is not how breakdowns works. You can filter by one breakdown and subsequently by another breakdown. E.g. assignment group, and assigned to, but there is not the form of relation that your looking for.

If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.

Best regards
