When attempting to share a dashboard, the list displayed is missing the required value

We have a situation whereby we have a defined role with a commonly used short string of 3 characters .  When we attempt to share a dashboard with this role, we select the share, then click on "role", followed by "+" to add the string we want to search. 

The result set returned is exhaustive, displaying users,  groups but the list never gets to the bottom to display the roles.  As a result, we are unable to select desired role.  The initial thought was that by selecting "Roles" in the share option was that the result set returned would only be the roles matching the sting value entered. 

Any ideas how the list can be extended to display all values?

Select Role section and then search with the role or String it would only displays roles
