New Procurement Service Management Enhancements Now Available for Rome

The Rome release of Procurement Service Management (“PSM”) helps to enhance the procurement fulfillment experience.

Feature highlights include:

  • Procurement with Project Management
  • Procurement for Field Service Management
  • Purchasing product bundles

I’d like to go into a bit of detail on some of these new features.

Procurement with Project Management

PSM makes it easy for project teams to track actual spending against plan. It simplifies project spend management by automating sourcing and purchase requests for projects and providing visibility into status from request to receipt.

Project teams often struggle to track spending when they have to manually tag purchase and sourcing requests themselves, usually in spreadsheets. It’s difficult for project managers to know the status of their spending requests when having to track information using disparate tools and systems.

With this capability, we’re giving time back to project managers to reduce the unnecessary headaches of tracking project spend requests against plan.

Procurement for Field Service Management

PSM makes it easy for field service teams to purchase parts when fulfilling work orders. Field service technicians typically can only source parts from existing inventory and don’t have a simple way to purchase items from non-catalog vendors. So, work orders are delayed and provide a poor overall experience.

With this capability, we’re giving time back to field service teams so they can fulfill work orders fast when purchasing parts from non-catalog vendors. ServiceNow makes it easy for field technicians to raise purchase requests directly from a mobile device to buy parts for work orders and have visibility into the process end-to-end.

Purchasing product bundles

PSM makes it easier for employees to buy bundled products and for procurement organizations to realize savings from those purchases.  Suppliers may offer products bundled together at a discounted rate, which employees aren’t able to take advantage of if they don’t have a simple way to group items together.

With product bundle purchasing, employees don’t have to purchase items individually and pay more.  ServiceNow makes it easy for procurement organizations to create bundled products in their catalog for employees to buy.  Also, the system ensures that bundled purchases are received and accounted for properly.
