S2P APO for Regulatory Compliance

Hello Team,

I am a ServiceNow S2P consultant & one of the most frequent questions we face is "Does ServiceNow support E-Invoicing related Regulatory Complexity, Risks, Data Security & Privacy capabilities specifically for EU, NA, LATAM, APAC etc.. where E-Invoicing is Mandatory, can SN perform standalone? 

Mostly my revert has been to say that 'we orchestrate, integrate & scale your existing applications with ServiceNow's agile capabilities'. This means that they still need to have Coupa/Ariba/TradeShift etc.. & that we integrate & automate thereon.

However, since ServiceNow can possibly Ingest invoices from various sources making it the single source of truth (like email, e-Invoice platforms etc..) & automate 3-way matching & auto process the invoice received or park it as Invoice Exception for it to be resolved – Question is can it also manage to comply with the “Regulatory, Risk, Data Security & Privacy compliant” like a E-Invoice service provider (like Coupa/Ariba/Tradeshift etc.)? Example: for few countries, invoice is sent by the Suppliers to the Govt website, from there invoices are routed to Procurement team for processing invoice, this is one such possibility while there are few more… can ServiceNow perform such orchestration? Am assuming the answer as YES, we can while this shall not be OOTB and shall need a lot of customization …

Lets divide your query into three parts 

 Regulatory Complexity : This are not provided OOTB by ServiceNow, but ServiceNow does support customizations to make sure such requirements are fulfilled.

Risks : What type of risks?

Data Security & Privacy - ServiceNow can apply security rules, encryption and roles based access to achieve this, this is all platform capability. 

Example you have provided - For such scenarios New versions provide table structure to integrated government portals or E-invoicing systems directly with ServiceNow, We need to make sure, we capture data and invoice image(If applicable) into ServiceNow. 

As ServiceNow is not ERP system, ServiceNow can directly integrated with ERP(e.g SAP S4) and send invoice digital data and image for further processing(Approval, Payment etc). With that said, systems like Coupa/Ariba are not always needed to be in place. It can be just ServiceNow for invoice ingestion + OCR + Orchestration + Complex rules - > Send enriched and validate Invoice to ERP.
