ServiceNow SAM Pro provides SAM managers and teams with a unified determination of license compliance and optimization needs. However, in some cases wrong configuration on the ServiceNow SAM Pro side leads to inadequate or wrong determination of license compliance. This can happen due to wrong implementation, inefficient governance of the product, or other reasons. 

 

Hence, the aim of the blog servics is to provide SAM Managers and analysts a comprehensive guide to determine the best practises to be taken to determine what is wrong in the system and therevy offer advise on the correction of the same. 

 

This blog has been created considering the configurations of "many" SAM Management teams. However, we too are in the process to learn about more issues or use case. In case your particular use case or issue is not listed- please provide your comments and we will reach out to you for more inputs.

 

 

 

Essentially, there are 4 common data objects in the SAM Universe which may have issues viz. 

 

  1. Subscriptions- Subscription records are pulled from SaaS portals like M365, Adobe, Zoom and many more for which ServiceNow SAM Pro offers integration 
  2. Software Installation (along with normalization): These are software installs discovered by discovery solutions like ServiceNow discovery or SCCM and are important for correct license compliance determination 
  3. Software Entitlement: These are purchase records are are also an essential piece to be corred 
  4. Software Models: These are specific version or configuration of software various configuration can be performed on the software model for different license compliance and optimization requirement
