Best way to remove old 'software installed' entries from hardware assets?

Hi,
We have not used ServiceNow Discovery properly for a while and so it is in a bit of a messy state. Previously, if a device has been returned to the business, we have not cleared off the 'software installed' items from the device which means our overall software inventory is very out of date.
We are in the process of manually viewing each device which is no longer in use (identified using the 'status' field of each record, 'retired', 'not in use' etc) selecting all software, and deleting. Is there a better way to do this?

If you are utilizing the SCCM Service Graph connector, yes, it will remove software installation records for software it recognizes as no longer being installed. ServiceNow Discovery does the same.

Is there any property we need to activate to achieve that? or it's by default already?

You'll need to be sure the SCCM SG Data source for removed software is configured. For SN Discovery, you'll not need to enable anything.

@Daniel Slocum This is an old post, but I'm interested in some details regarding Software Installation deleting by SN Discovery.
Could you share how this process works?
I checked the mentioned Scheduled job, but this is for CI with a specific status (retired/ stolen). This is in place and I believe that this is working fine.
The question is how is SN Discovery acting on active CI with old installations that are not installed anymore on the CI. Scheduled job, Business rule etc....
Hope to get some details about this process!
