Delete outdate software models

I took the software asset management class and one of the labs had this story. I am trying understand what determines an outdated software model and how to know when should you delete them?

"STRY020101Delete outdated software models
As a software asset manager, I need to delete two outdated software models prior to
importing my entitlements so they do not cause issues with duplicate software models"

Check out this document from Now Create.  Starting on page 43, there is a good overview of Importing Entitlements.  This section talks about recording software entitlements, including importing.

Now Create also has a nice write up from a process perspective.

If I remember correctly, check to see if there are any software models that do not have entitlements.

Thank you for the reply, I have done that but what I am having trouble understanding is do I remove those software models? Or do I try to attach new or existing entitlements to the software models (maybe because of entitlement import error remediation or I have entitlements that need to be uploaded that use those models? I have been led to believe that software models are created through either entitlement upload, through content services schedules job results when it provides a PPN with the details or manual creation. Just wanted to fully understand the lifecycle of a software model from creation to deletion.
