When ServiceNow Discovery no longer finds a piece of software installed on a machine, it does not remove it from the software install table. KB1445133 indicates this auto-removal should be working but I am having difficulty confirming this functionality with SNW support team.
We have a remediation team removing thousands of software installations from servers but the install records are not being removed from cmdb_sam_sw_install table. Has anyone else had this issue?

Following up for everyone interested in software removal. Unfortunately, SNW support was unable to test for us as they are not allowed from installing anything on our servers. So the only way to validate was for us to install a piece of software, run discovery, view in SAM installs table, uninstall the software, run discovery again, and view that it was removed in SAM installs. We followed these steps and were able to validate that removal was working successfully.

hi @lreyes1 , @SebastianBarnes ,
please keep us posted about the status/solution of your support cases!
In the meantime, did you had a chance to review the details/payload of the mentioned pattern "probe triggered - WMI: Installed Software for getting software installed on that device"?
Best, Dennis

@dreinhardt Thank you for reminding me about the probe. I will check on it, but in the meantime, we will install a small application (like Chrome), run discovery, view it in the installs table and then uninstall it, run discovery again, and view that it removes from the table. Unfortunately for us, that is not quite so simple with our server security. I am awaiting an install package I can use for testing.
