Discovery phases

All,

As per my understanding, software installed on a device is identified under "Exploration" phase of discovery.

However, if the same question is asked as "software identified on an IP-enabled device", does the answer remains same - Exploration ?

Hi @Vaibhav Sharma ,

For  "software identified on an IP-enabled device", it falls on "Classification" phase.

Mark my answer correct & Helpful, if Applicable.

Hi,

For both questions "Which phase identifies software running on a device" and "Which phase identifies software running on an IP enabled device" answer is "EXPLORATION PHASE". Because discovery uses patterns to identify applications/software in machine. Patterns can be used in last 2 phases of discovery.
