Does Software asset management track open source software?

@dj6ilSA When you say track do you mean recorded? All software installations found by discovery will be under the [cmdb_sam_sw_install] table including open-source software. Note that open-source software is not included in the SAM reconciliation results because they are "Not Licensable". Depending on how your software models are created (e.g. automatically based on discovery, or manual), you can create one for open-source software to identify which ones are approved for use in your environment. Some may even change their licensing over time and ServiceNow does update the "License type" automatically so it will show up on future reconciliation results.

Thanks for your post. I am interested in recording Open Source and freeware in SAMPro, but I don't know what to put in the model and asset records in the License Type or Agreement Type fields. 
FWIW, I don't agree that these kinds of products are not licensed -- there is a license, just no charge.
