Hey,
Has anyone evaluated SAM professional and Flexera. Which one is good. Have you convinced your customer to use servicenow over flexera ?
How many SKU's servicenow has. Flexera has over 600k . I guess service now has very little (not sure appx number).
Thanks
Nik

Hi,
We did a comparison between ServiceNow SAM and Flexera during the initial phase for selection of tool and went ahead with ServiceNow due to reasons listed below:
- Our entire ITSM, other Business Applications, Custom Applications and other End User facing stuff are implemented on ServiceNow platform. So this makes it compatible to integrate with existing CMDB and Asset applications and in future if we want to integrate it with other systems where Purchasing order is concerned or automating deployment of software is related using Client distribution plugin and Orchestration. These were just examples with many more we can do with ServiceNow already implemented as an Service in our organization.
- Secondly personally I have seen SAM as a product improving during each version of ServiceNow release, with me working in SAM from the version it was released and even it tops in Gartners list. Please refer the link below:
- Regardingg the query on SKU currently in ServiceNow, it's constantly improving with everyday list of software data being updated in there library, so I would suggest not to look on the count.Even if some of your software is not there currently in the list, there is a concept for Content Service Set Up which if you opt in would get added to ServiceNow library and next time it would get Normalized automatically which makes it even more inclined towards it.
Hope this help. Please mark the answer as helpful/correct based on impact.

Hi Nik,
Analysing Flexera and SAM Professional isn't comparing apples with apples. SAM Pro is part of the ServiceNow platform, whereas Flexera is a jumble of point tools.
Interesting to note that Flexera has over 600K SKUs - how many of these SKUs does you organization actually use in the IT environment ? 🙂
