license calculations

How do I got about using the license calculations feature under Software Asset Management? For example, we get all our data from SAP and I want to do a count of how many Adobe licenses we have throughout the organization.

Corey,

In SAM Professional there are two elements to calculating licensing positions and involves reconciling purchased rights (software entitlements) with consumed rights (discovered software installations).

OOTB, software entitlements are associated with a specific software model and automatically reconciled with discovery models (aggregation of  software installation records) on a weekly basis - this is schedule can be updated if necessary. Also, you can run ad-hoc software reconciliations whenever you want.

To answer your question, you will need to import all of your license purchases from SAP into SAM Professional to provide the software entitlement data that I refer to. Since I don't know what discovery systems you are using, I can't comment specifically on the software installation aspect.

Also, please note that in a future SN release, the intention is to provide a native integration that connects SAM Pro to Adobe Cloud Management to obtain company subscriptions for different Adobe cloud services such as Creative, Experience and Document and automatically reconcile this subscription information with discovered installations.

Hope this helps.

Mike.

Hello,

What SN release are you on, and what SAM plugin do you have activated? SAM Foundations or SAM Professional?

Regards,

Julian

Hi Julian,

I'm on the Kingston patch 5 release and have activated the SAM Professional plugin.

Best regards,

Corey
