Hello Team!

Are there any guides created already or available related to best practices for migrations from Flexera FlexNet Manager, Flexera One or Snow Software into ServiceNow? Key notes, highlights, lessons learned on things to keep in mind during this process? Any experiences, articles, documents, guidelines are very much appreciated in advance!

Hi @LFS ,

I found one old article about entitlement migration from FNMS to SAMP, to keep it short … best practice is to transfer the information into the SAMP upload template and reprocess all, as the data structure for PO/License Containers isn’t the same as for entitlements/software models.

Best, Dennis

Thanks so much @dreinhardt ! Yes, this is what we usually recommend also. Thanks for the confirmation! I was wondering if there are any published materials pointing to these very specific scenarios and references, but this is accurate.

Kind regards,

Don't do it. Worst mistake my company made was introducing SAMP.

No one mentions the massive amount of configuration required. It needs to be treated and funded as a project in itself.

I think transparency is key. We know this move takes a very significant effort, but there are also good business reasons why companies choose to make this migration. As long as we can openly communicate the levels of effort and caveats properly, we should be able to gain trust and collaboration from everyone involved and make the process consistent. Part of the reasons why I'm looking to get better documentation and recommendations from ServiceNow directly, upfront. If not currently created, a good opportunity to start working on this :). We are in the consulting business and we have seen a significant increase in interest from organizations to get into SAM Pro. It IS definitely a project in itself.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts @andynewey !! Not everything needs to be petals and roses, but it's important to hear every experience!
