Hi all,
we are on our way to implement the Software Asset Management Professional plugin in our Instance.
Right now i am facing an issue, that multiple versions are showing up on the Software Installs of a System.
i E . for Google Chrome:
What is a the best practice to get rid of these "old versions" and just have main lasted version being displayed ?
Also with the SAMP , the Normalization is coming on connected to the Content Library at Service Now. (auto normalized)
I have created Software Models for Visio (2013, 2016, Prof and Standard) , (Discovery Model auto normalized from SN)
When i run a reconciliation, the produc results are showing each language as a seperate install and even worse, also each different version as a seperate install (see below)
I did the SAMP Training 2 weeks ago, but this looks all different if you have a "clean CMDB"
We are running on London Patch 2 and using SCCM for Windows Systems as being the source for Software installs and Discovery for any SSH devices. Right now i got 10million+ records in the cmdb_sam_sw_install table.

Hi Reece,
we are now working together with the SN Prof Team to implement SAM.
Recommendation was to wipe out all records in the cmdb_sw_install table (11 000 000 records) and start there from scratch)
Due to the amount of records this will be done from SN (Serverside)
Not easy to manage.

Hi Frank,
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. I'm finding that multiple versions of the same software is also causing massive headaches - do you have any advice regarding that?
For example, if I'm trying to create a counter for Adobe InCopy CC we currently have many different versions of that (CC v1 CC v1.2)
Have you had any luck with something like that?

Hello Reece,
SAM Professional doesn't utilize counters. Counters are the reconciliation method in the SAM Plugin. Can you clarify which application you are utilizing?
