Hello,
Is it possible to Normalize and Reconcile with only SAM foundation plugin sn_itam_samp and without SAM pro ?
If yes, what extent?
1) Only publishers normalization ?
2) Feasibility of Product normalization to some extent?
3) Any reconciliation feasibility with at least few license type?
Please give some insights

Short answer: with SAM Foundation (sn_itam_samp) alone you get the data model — software models, entitlements, manual license records — but the automated engine that actually does normalization and reconciliation lives in SAM Pro. Honest expectation-setting on your three points:
- Publisher normalization — Foundation gives you very little automated normalization. The Software Content Library (the subscription content that maps raw discovery strings to canonical publishers/products) is a SAM Pro entitlement. Without it you're normalizing manually against your own reference data, which doesn't scale past a handful of publishers.
- Product normalization — same story. Real product/version/edition normalization is content-driven, and that content service comes with Pro. Foundation can hold normalized values, but it won't populate them for you at scale.
- Reconciliation — Foundation supports basic/manual license tracking, but the reconciliation engine that calculates effective license position across metrics (per-core, processor, named user, etc.) is a Pro capability.
Blunt take: if the goal is a true license position and audit defensibility, Foundation is a starting inventory, not a compliance engine — trying to force it there is usually a scoping/skills gap, not a tooling failure. Confirm exactly what your entitlement includes before you design around it.
If you want help scoping Foundation vs Pro against your actual publishers and license types, that's the kind of work we do at Four Dragons
