Publish to Software Catalog

When I first heard about this new plugin I was excited to see how it would integrate with the Service Catalog.   I see an UI Action to 'Publish to Service Catalog' and it seems to create a simple catalog item.   Is there any other functionality besides this that integrates Service Catalog with Software Asset Management?

I was looking to see if there was automation to assign software licenses from Completed Software requests in the catalog.   Will I have to build a custom workflow to do this or will this new plugin include something to configure for this?

With the Procurement plugin activated, when you source the software request, you will have the option to assign the rights for the software (if you have available rights) or purchase more rights for it:

If you wanted to get really complete with this, Client Software Distribution takes this automation a step further and will orchestrate the deployment of the software as well.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any functionality to assign unused licenses upon ordering the software from the catalog? We have licenses that have already been procured in bulk and are looking to assign them as people request them.

There is not anything baseline that is automated for this. It is done through the interface.

CSD does automate this and creates a task if no rights are available.

If you want to do this in an automated fashion without CSD, then you would need to create something.

New SAM solution does provide visibility to Allocations, which gets tracked via Service Catalog workflows.

Allocations can be tracked from reconciliation model results.
